GenDx is proud sponsor of the International Immunogenetics Information system (IMGT database), globally used and daily reference for the whole HLA community.
IPD was developed in 2003 to provide a centralized system for the study of polymorphism in genes of the immune system. The IPD project was established by the HLA Informatics Group of the Anthony Nolan Research Institute in close collaboration with the European Bioinformatics Institute.
About the project
The IPD-IMGT/HLA Database (HLA Database) maintains the official sequences for the World Health Organization’s Nomenclature Committee for Factors of the HLA System. For HLA typing laboratories and researchers, the HLA Database is the sole source for validated HLA nucleic acid and amino sequences. These websites, developed and maintained by project leader Professor Steven G.E. Marsh, Chief Bioinformatics and Immunogenetics Officer and Deputy Director of Research, Anthony Nolan Research Institute, are the fundamental tools used worldwide to advance this critical science. The HLA database can be found at: ebi.ac.uk/ipd/imgt/hla and hla.alleles.org.
The IPD-IMGT/HLA Database Website serves as a standard reference resource for the industry with visitors from over 150 countries.
