“Solving Biological Mysteries with NGS: Three Alleles in One Sample”

Clinical samples that are sent for HLA typing can sometimes contain surprising peculiarities, such as three alleles present in one sample. A situation like this can lead to inexplicable heterozygous or questionable positions that cannot be easily interpreted. Upon receiving a sample like this, we did further investigation to find out what was going on in the sample.
